Paris

Paris
Did you know that Paris is called the city of lights? Well, it is. It is so beautiful at night with all the monuments and the
lights.

The Louvre, which is along the banks of the Seine River in Paris, is the world’s largest museum and one of the most well known museums in the world. This magnificent structure, which has housed priceless art in France since 1793, is among Paris' most popular tourist attraction.. On August 10, 1793, the Musee du Louvre, located on Paris’ right bank, opened its doors to the public.

One of the main things Paris is known for is the Eiffel Tower. The Eiffel Tower is one of the most famous monuments of Paris, France. The Eiffel Tower was actually named after a man named Gustave Eiffel.. In 2010 about 250 million people viewed the Eiffel Tower. The Eiffel Tower is about 1,063 feet tall, about the height of an 81 story building.
French foods are the best foods in the world, in the opinion of this author. They have amazing bread called baguettes, that the French eat at every meal. They also are famous for a dessert called macaroons. They are French small, flavored, circular cakes. Another French food is the crèpe. It is like a really flat pancake that you put fruit or cheese and then roll it up.

A Wacky Sledding Adventure

A Wacky Sledding Adventure
Caitlyn Moon
About two months ago I was at my cousin’s house. My cousin’s names are Ryan Carlson and Jeremy Jones. It had snowed!
They had two purple sleds, so we went sledding! Their neighbors have a little, tiny forest in their backyard with a hill. There is a path that is cleared and it’s perfect for sledding. We got into our snow clothes and went outside. I stuck out my tongue to catch some snowflakes. We took our sleds over to their neighbor’s hill. It was completely COVERED with snow. I got my sled all ready to go. So did Ryan and Jeremy.
    “3...2...1...GO!” I yelled.
We took off! I sped down the hill as fast as a bullet. At the bottom I was still going, so I turned to avoid a tree. I still didn’t stop! I tipped over on purpose to stop going. Ryan and Jeremy both forgot to stop. They crashed right into the tree I avoided! It was so funny! We went right back up to try again. 3...2...1...GO! Guess what?!?! Again, I steered away from the tree. And again, Ryan and Jeremy bumped into it! They kept on going for like a yard, then flipped over. This was even funnier than last time!
“Hey guys,” I yelled, “Are you okay?”
“That was awesome!” Ryan exclaimed. “Let’s do it again!”
So, we got into position. We took off down the hill. This time I forgot to look ahead to see if there was a branch ahead of me. I slid right under one! When I tried to lift it, it was too heavy! Finally, I managed to slide out from under it. Of course when I looked over at Ryan and Jeremy, they had bumped into the tree and put a long scratch in it.
It was almost time to go inside, so we went down one last time. This time Jeremy and Ryan had FINALLY learned. They followed me around the tree and tipped over. I kept on going until I ran over some weeds.

This was a very weird, sledding adventure!

The Griffin Story

The Griffin Story By Hope Fu

Chapter 1 Scott woke up from a nightmare. He had sweat beading on his head. As usual he didn’t remember his dream. He wouldn’t have even known he’d had a nightmare except for the one time he had one and had had his forehead completely covered in sweat. He tried to concentrate, he had a  project due in science today. They could do whatever they wanted to for it, it just had to be about something real. He had done it on griffins- he had always loved them  His new last name was Griffinblade - his old one was Moo, his family always hated cows.
“Wake up you sleepy-head!” screamed his sister Louvina.
“Coming!” he shouted back. He grabbed his backpack and ran into the kitchen.
The usual morning drama was in full power- plus it was Scott’s day to make breakfast- a chore that was desired as much as a frog is to a fly. Today, the fridge only had milk, milk, and more milk. Scott smiled inwardly,Louvina’s pancakes would have to wait.
Scott put milk in the microwave, it was a passable meal in extreme cases. “Mom, you’re going to have to go grocery shopping again.” A groan drifted from the dining room.
“I just went there… how long ago?”
“A month.”
After a small breakfast milk, Scott, Scarlet, and Louvina started walking to school. Scarlet was a small quiet girl who looked up to her older brother. “What time does school start?” she asked. “7:30” replied Scott.
They got there, 1st and 2nd period went by as slow as snails. The only relatively interesting thing was the new kid, a girl named  Holly Seman. Finally, 3rd period (also known as science) came.
“ Scott G., come up,” the science teacher said.
The other Scott snickered loudly. “I did my project on griffins-” Scott was interrupted by a yell- by none other than Mr. Conn. “Griffins! I thought I gave you specific directions to study something real!” “But griffins are-” “No buts!” The over sized man bellowed. “ Do you know what this means?! It means you’re going to get a-” “But griffins are real.” A small small voice entered the fray. Scott looked in bewilderment around the room. He realized it had been Holly. “Detention!” The man was now positively screaming. “My office this afternoon and F-’s for both of you!”

Note: Mr. Conn’s name matched his personality.
To... be...continued....
Chapter 2
For the rest of the day, Scott felt a total numbness in his body. He was sure Holly felt the same way- she was staring off into space. It was weird how Holly had stuck up for him- without really knowing who he was, and Mr. Conn was wrong, griffins did exist just, nobody could see them except him and now Holly.
All the classes felt really short- the exact opposite of this morning. Detention came and as everyone else was leaving, the other Scott- Scott Markincies- called out “Griffin boy, griffin boy  griffin boy!” Detention wasn’t exactly what you’d call interesting- but it was more eventful; at the very least.
The man made them redo the project and then forced on them the topic: The History of Hunting Animals
Then, as they were finishing up, Holly exclaimed, “Look, a griffin!” “Where?!” Scott shouted back.
“There!”
Scott looked up and saw the most magnificent thing he’d ever seen; it looked exactly like the drawings in his room an animal which head and front body of an eagle and the tail and lower body of a lion. It stared at them and then took off soaring in the direction of the trees.
“Outrageous!”
They jumped. They had forgotten about Mr. Conn and in their state of apparent shock dropped the project in a milk splatter on the floors of the classroom. “Even though you know griffins aren't real you are still faking and now you have ruined a great work of art! Your parents are going to be called immediately and Miss Short is this how you’re going to be introduced to the staff, as a trouble maker? Both of you are going to be watched from now on!”
