Panthers are type of wild cats that inhabit America, Asia and Africa. They are also known as the black panther and are also called jagires.  Their scientific name is Panthera Pardus.
They can be found in rainforests, swamps, and savannas.  They are also a part of the big cat family which is native to Florida and several places around the world.
A panther looks like a leopard without spots. It has yellow eyes and dark brown fur.
Panthers are endangered animals due to loss of natural habitat and pollution.  Many people are trying to protect panthers.  
The panther is a very intelligent and agile animal. They can run up to 35 miles per hour.Their prey is deer, wild boar and raccoons. They are carnivores. Their predators are humans, lions and hyenas.

Panthers can live up to 15 years and can weigh up to 350 pounds.
